Chair Chi: Two Smiles – Yes!

By Chris Leave a Comment

She joined our Chair Chi exercise session circle after it started and said, ‘I’ll just watch’, sat down, crossed her feet, folded her arms and just stared at me.

All I said was, ‘you are welcome to join in’ and continued on teaching the other aged care residents.

I cracked a joke, which I sometimes do, and she cracked a smile with the other residents. After she smiled she started to make a small effort to participate which was encouraging.

Chair Chi: ‘I’d Like to Shake Your Hand’

By Chris Leave a Comment

I had another pleasant experience at an aged care centre after I finished running a Chair Chi session recently.

One of the residents in a wheel chair waited patiently while I was talking to someone else. I noticed she waved away some one who tried to talk to her so I politely finished my conversation and turned to her and said, ‘Hi’.

Chair Chi: 16 Residents = 1543 Years-Old

By Chris Leave a Comment

A couple of days ago I ran another Chair Chi session for an aged care center and the residents ages ranged from 90 to 103 years-old. That’s over 1543 years of age!

Good Christmas Chi

By Chris Leave a Comment

Well, it’s that time of the year to scale down my Tai Chi training and enjoy my Christmas holidays.

Usually over a two to three week period I reduce my training down to a minimum practicing only the forms. This gives me a good mental break away from a standard routine of training throughout the year.

Also I get a chance to reflect on my training and on what I want to achieve for the coming year. I will need to make adjusments because of my BJ Seminars International work, and my expanding Chair Chi sessions which will take up quite a lot of time and energy next year.

So to all my readers (1 or 2?) of this site I hope you enjoy a lot of good Christmas Chi.

Chair Chi Sleeper

By Chris Leave a Comment

Well, I’ve done it again.

I’ve put another staff member to sleep who was watching a Chair Chi session I ran for an aged care center today.

As I was working with a group of elderly residents I noticed the staff member sitting nearby start to drift off to sleep. He was watching the gentle hypnotic Chi movements we were practicing and kept nodding off.
