Good Christmas Chi

By Chris Leave a Comment

Well, it’s that time of the year to scale down my Tai Chi training and enjoy my Christmas holidays.

Usually over a two to three week period I reduce my training down to a minimum practicing only the forms. This gives me a good mental break away from a standard routine of training throughout the year.

Also I get a chance to reflect on my training and on what I want to achieve for the coming year. I will need to make adjusments because of my BJ Seminars International work, and my expanding Chair Chi sessions which will take up quite a lot of time and energy next year.

So to all my readers (1 or 2?) of this site I hope you enjoy a lot of good Christmas Chi.

Chair Chi Sleeper

By Chris Leave a Comment

Well, I’ve done it again.

I’ve put another staff member to sleep who was watching a Chair Chi session I ran for an aged care center today.

As I was working with a group of elderly residents I noticed the staff member sitting nearby start to drift off to sleep. He was watching the gentle hypnotic Chi movements we were practicing and kept nodding off.

Chi Students: 5-Years-Old to 95-Years-Old

The other day I taught my oldest student ever. She was 95-years-old and was part of our Chair Chi exercise session which was held at a local aged care center. She was seated just behind the main circle and doing some of the exercise I was teaching the other residents.

I only found out her age after the session when she was introduced to me and when I was told she was 95-years-old I said, ‘ah, you’re only a spring chicken’ which got a bit of laugh from her and her carer.

Chair Chi Poodle

By Chris Leave a Comment

I was at a aged care center the other day runnng my Chair Chi session for residents and across the room, sitting on a chair was a white poodle.

The dog, bared it’s teeth, growled at me and must have thought I was an intruder. Well, I was, but a friendly intruder and it took a while before the poodle settled down but it still stared at me.

Chair Chi: Small Gesture Good Chi

By Chris Leave a Comment

I’d just finished another Chair Chi session at a aged care facility and said goodbye to the group. One resident walked past me, and placed a hand on my shoulder in appreciation for the session.

He was the person who had limited mobility and a disability which may have been caused by a stroke. During the session I watched him attempt the various Chi exercises and was not sure how much he was benefiting from the movements.
