Tiny Tai Chi

I was standing in line at a supermarket and decided to do some Tai Chi training while waiting to be served.

Obviously a weapons form was out of the question so I decided to do some tiny Tai Chi practice. I bent my knees slightly and adopted a standing posture. No one could see what I was doing as the posture was high and it looked like I was just standing there like the others in line.

Tai Chi: Line Alignment

When I’m practicing Tai Chi or Chair Chi exercises I sometimes use a visualisation technique to make sure my body is correctly aligned.

For example, if I’m in the preparation stance in Tai Chi and about to commence the form I imagine there’s a straight line from the BaiHui point (middle of the skull) through to my hui yin point (perenium – between the anus and genitals).

Tai Chi Tip #63

When practicing Tai Chi stances make sure the upper body gently lifts from the tan tien and stays in position (don’t collapse).

Compulsory Tai Chi

I have a fixed routine for my Tai Chi training, six days a week, but occasionally I get so busy that I can’t fit everything in.

When this occurs I make sure, at the very least, I do my stance training – it’s what I call my ‘compulsory Tai Chi’ training.

Tai Chi: The Day When Time Stood Still

I set my small electronic clock to count down from 8 minutes, pressed the start button, and stepped back into my ’embrace the tree posture’.

I relaxed into my posture and thought time would go quick as this was my 8 minute session as compared to the normal 20 minute sessions I do on alternative days.
