    It has taken me a long time to rid my brain of the definition of ‘straight’ as ‘with no bends’. Mostly in tai chi situations ‘straight’ seems to mean ‘vertical’. Not understanding this made my early tai chi learning more difficult than necessary.

    Good point. Certain terminology in Tai Chi can be helpful or misleading. I suppose it depends on the teacher and students understanding.
