Tai Chi Relaxation: Scan and Breathe

By Chris Leave a Comment

Here’s a way of relaxing the body when you are practicing standing postures such as Embrace the Tree.

  1. Scan your entire body and check for any tense muscles
  2. If you discover a tense muscle direct your attention to it and then breathe into it and exhale
  3. As you exhale, feel the muscle completely relax

When you use the scan and breathe method make sure you don’t lose your alignment. It’s a good idea to check your alignment after you do this technique in case you have moved out of the correct position.

This is a technique I use when I practice my regular 20 minute Embrace the Tree stance.

Have a go and let me know what it feels like.
