‘Aha’ Tai Chi

By Chris Leave a Comment

One of the things I most enjoy about teaching Tai Chi is when a student has an ‘aha’ experience.

It happened the other day during a private Tai Chi lesson. My student told me he was experiencing pain in the neck area caused by a medical condition. I asked him to try a Chi Kung breathing technique to dissolve the pain. He did and within 7 seconds the pain was gone.

We were both surprised.

He was surprised that the technique had worked. And I was surprised it had worked so quickly – usually with beginner students it takes a while for various techniques to work.

I always look forward to ‘aha’ reactions in students and myself. It’s very pleasing and strengthens my motivation to keep teaching Tai Chi.
